About Steven Cooley

Deputy Steven Cooley was nominated by Sharon Boston of Teacher's Pension.

Deputy Cooley has dedicated his career to guiding young people toward brighter futures. In 2012, he co-founded STRAP (Seeking the Right Amendable Path) Inc., a nonprofit intervention and mentorship program designed to support at-risk youth. Through STRAP, Deputy Cooley helps teens develop the life skills and decision-making tools they need to graduate high school, stay on a positive path, and grow into successful, contributing members of their communities.

His deep commitment to youth empowerment and community service has earned him numerous honors, including the 2023 Deputy Sheriff of the Year award from the Rotary Club, the George W. Bush “Daily Point of Light Award”, and the Gwinnett Bar Association’s Liberty Bell Award. Deputy Cooley exemplifies what it means to lead with compassion, purpose, and a relentless drive to make a difference.
