Lieutenant Rushton Metzler has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to his community through his 18 years of Columbia County Fire Rescue service. From his early days as a volunteer firefighter to his current role as a paid professional, Lt. Metzler has exemplified the highest standards of dedication and professionalism. He currently serves as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Firefighter at one of the department's busiest engine companies, where his skills and leadership are invaluable.
Lt. Metzler is a highly skilled firefighter and EMT and a positive role model for his crew and the community. He consistently leads by example, inspiring those around him with his strong work ethic, compassion, and service-minded attitude. Lt. Metzler is incredibly passionate about supporting the youth in Columbia County, serving as a mentor, and fostering a sense of hope and possibility among the next generation.
Beyond his professional work, Lt. Metzler's contributions to the community extend to his personal life. He has been married to his wife, Mandy, for 19 years, and together they are raising two beautiful boys and working on adopting a girl. As a family, they are deeply involved in the local community and their church, consistently offering their time and resources to help others.
Together, Lt. Metzler and his wife have founded Prepare for Babies, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting mothers facing crisis pregnancies. The organization provides essential resources and supplies for expectant mothers. Their ultimate goal is to establish a maternity home for women in crisis, where they can stay for up to 18 months, receiving guidance and mentorship while learning how to care for themselves and their children. Through this initiative, Lt. Metzler and his wife aim to equip these women with the tools they need to build abundant lives rooted in faith, love, and support.
